Personal Alarm Location Reports: A Guide to Timestamps and Context

Practical guide. A map marker alone does not explain when a personal alarm location was obtained or how it should be interpreted. This original guide helps B2B telecare teams define the timestamp and context checks to request during a sample evaluation.

Separate the times before interpreting the point

Ask the supplier to explain whether a displayed time refers to the position measurement, message receipt or screen refresh. These are separate questions to verify in the proposed system. A refreshed screen should not automatically be treated as evidence of a newly measured position.

Record the timezone and the meaning of each available timestamp. If the proposed device or receiving system does not expose a field, mark it as unavailable and agree how that limitation will be handled. Do not assume that WPD-01 includes a particular reporting interval, timestamp field or platform display.

Keep environmental context alongside the location

The archived GPS.gov explanation of GPS accuracy identifies signal blockage, indoor use and reflections from buildings as factors that can affect positioning. The page was last modified 3 March 2022 and checked 28 October 2026; the archive warns that its content has not been updated since February 2025. It is background guidance, not recent news or a WPD-01 performance test.

Use that context to plan observations in the intended setting. Do not apply smartphone examples or satellite signal specifications as a promised accuracy figure for a personal alarm. A position estimate and its age answer different questions: a recent estimate can still have uncertainty.

Use a controlled route to ask better questions

For a supervised evaluation, agree a short route and known observation points before starting. Compare what the tester observes with the reports the proposed receiving arrangement actually provides. Use a separate evaluation device and an agreed test workflow.

  • At each point: note the actual observation time, setting and displayed location.
  • When available: record the positioning method and measurement and receipt times separately.
  • When reports stop or arrive later: document the observed behaviour without assuming buffering, automatic retries or a guaranteed update interval.
  • After the test: identify which conclusions are supported and which require supplier clarification.

Define the receiving workflow

Amulink WPD-01 has confirmed GPS, Wi-Fi, BLE and cellular LBS positioning features with A-GPS assistance. These features do not establish a particular fusion algorithm, accuracy, update frequency, API or monitoring-platform compatibility. Those details remain subject to project requirements and technical evaluation.

Ask how the receiving team will distinguish an older report from a new one, describe uncertainty and seek additional context through the agreed communication route. Define escalation responsibilities separately; a location report does not guarantee rescue. Our positioning-method guide provides the broader technology overview.

Bring the questions to a sample discussion

Prepare the intended country, network, receiving system and the reporting fields you need to evaluate. Discuss a WPD-01 sample evaluation with Amulink. Sample terms, market configuration and integration suitability require confirmation.
